List # 4

I like style. I like lists. So, I've compiled a list of my favorite styles at the 2012 Primetime Emmys. I haven't thoroughly examined anyone else's list. I made this list based solely on my initial thoughts when I saw the dress on television and in photos.
Modern Family's Ariel Winter in Katharine Kidd
So age appropriate and so lovely, this dress and print are fun and fearless, yet soft and pretty. Beautiful!

Modern Family's Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad

WOW - her body, her hair, her skin, her make-up, her jewels, and her dress are all a-mayyyyyy-zing.

Modern Family's Julie Bowen in Monique Lhillier
There was this trend of bright colors going on, but I think this is the best; the best of the bold brights, and the best she's ever looked.
Nicole Kidman in Antonio Bernardi
This wouldn't be a favorite of mine on just any woman, but Nicole pulls it off beautifully. Those perfectly matching Christian Louboutin stilettos are "to die for" (pun intended).

Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier
Seriously, this woman is my age...that's about all we have in common. I think I audibly gasped when I saw her in this stunning ensemble - perfection.
Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen
I don't think anyone else even wore a shade of purple, but that's a good thing. I'm not sure that anyone could have beaten the look of this one. Love, love, love everything about her entire styling - hair, make-up, bag, ring, manicure - everything.

Mad Men's January Jones in Zac Posen
I must admit that the one piece of hair that seems out of place annoys me, but this dress is incredible, so I just focus on the dress. It's a little like a goth fairytale princess dress, and I love it.
Mad Men's Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano
Thank you God for creating this woman and her killer curves; thank you Mad Men for employing her; thank you designers for creating stunning garments for her to wear; thank you Christina for embracing who you are, and what you look like. Christina is lookin' fierce!

List # 3

This list is inspired once again by quirky pickings.  She challenged me to name ten of my favorite actors or actresses.  I started thinking about it, and I am not one of those people who has a favorite in the sense that I must see every movie or television show that a particular person has acted in.  I respect the acting talents of some, and others I like because they just seem to have an enjoyable, likable personality.

I got to thinking some more about this blog, and I did start it as a "style" blog.  So, here's my favorite actresses lookin' oh-so-stylish.

(Wouldn't it be nice to have stylists, designers, jewelers, and hair & make-up folks to get you ready for a big event?)

Dakota Fanning

Diane Lane

Drew Barrymore

Helen Mirren

Jennifer Aniston

Kate Hudson

Kate Winslet

Nicole Kidman

Rachel McAdams

List # 2

Another list initiated by quirky pickings. These are the rules for this list:
go to the internet movie data base and, for every year you've been alive (or for the past three decades), look at the ten best (and only the top ten) films from each (and every) year you've been alive (or for three decades or so). write down every film you love (as in you own it/can regurgitate half the lines at least/encourage everyone you meet to see it/have seen it a thousand times... that sort of love). whittle that list down to fifteen and post it. i was born in 1973, for example, so i'd start here: http://www.imdb.com/year/1973 (and then, to get to the next year, just change the three to a four in the address bar... and so on, because they don't have handy dandy next button like the best albums site does.)

This list posed a big challenge to me. When I initially listed the movies that I love from the choices on imdb's most popular films of each year, my list was lengthy. But, the challenge was to "whittle" those movies down to my favorite fifteen, and that I did. Here it is listed in the order of the year the film was released:

"Do you mind if we dance with your dates?"

"...rockin' and rollin' and whatnot"

"We'll always be friends forever"

"Aloha, Mr. Hand"

"Do it for Johnny!"

"Hey, but a lot can happen over a year. I mean, you could come back next fall as a completely normal person"

"If you don't have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me"

"Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after. It's a reckonin' "

"I'm Forrest Gump.  People call me Forrest Gump"

"Get busy living, or get busy dying"

"I can not promise you riches. What I can offer you the chance to save the world one case at a time"

"This is a true story about friendship that runs deeper than blood"

"Real loss is only possible when you love something more than you love yourself"

"if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends"

"To me, you are perfect"

This style isn't difficult. Not at all. A great black skirt with a good pair of black boots mixed with this rich purple.

She looks comfortable, well-presented, and stylish.

(it doesn't hurt that she has mane of gorgeous, healthy hair)

List # 1

I like to make lists. I do it all the time. Things to do, things to see, things I like, etc. So, I'm adding "lists" to my blog. A lot of my lists won't have a thing to do with style or pictures or people on the street. Oh well. It's my blog, and I can make lists if I want to.

The first list came from a challenge that a friend of mine posted. (she has a wonderfully insightful, painfully truthful, witty blog, and you can find it here: quirky pickings). These are her rules:
i'm taking a poll of sorts. HELP ME WITH SOME RESEARCH. (please.) go to best ever albums and look at the ten best (and only the top ten) albums from each (and every) year you've been alive (or for about three decades or so... click on the statistics tab... it's the third from the left). write down every album you love (as in you dig more than say five or six songs on it), and then whittle that list down to fifteen (no band can be represented twice) and post that list (with pictures, if you're so inclined). (i know. so many rules. bah. it's my poll.)

Although I had some difficulties playing along due to my objections that there were many albums and bands that were not listed in this site's "best albums", I followed her rules, and here's my list (in order by year released):

"I want you, I need you, but there ain't  no way I'm ever gonna love you"

"You may have all you want baby, but I got somethin' you need"

"I don't mind you coming here and wasting all my time"

"She was the best damn woman that I've ever seen"

"I want to love you (PYT) pretty young thing"

"Lady luck never smiles, so lend your love to me awhile"

"Dig if you will the picture of you and I engaged in a kiss"

"Glory days, well they'll pass you by"

"I hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain"

"Let me take you on a trip around the world and back"

"I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky"

"Have I run too far to get home?"

"We see things they'll never see"

"I had to fall to lose it all but in the end it doesn't even matter"

"I am not afraid to keep on living; I am not afraid to walk this world alone"
