Literary Ladies Book Challenge Update

I have said before that I'm a little bit of a book challenge junkie. Currently, I am juggling five challenges, and I'm enjoying them all.  It's our first month check-in for the Literary Ladies hosted by Kristen & Kari & Krystal .

Here's what I've read so far:

2. Non US Author - The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion - 2/5

3. A book that was recommended by a blogger (or instagrammer / you-tuber / goodreads-er) - Shotgun Lovesongs by Nickolas Butler - When Steph was interviewed in Jana's Interview with a Bookworm series, she recommended this one. - 4/5

6. A book that is or will be a movie (or TV show) - This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper - 4/5

8. A book with a one word title. - Galveston by Nic Pizzolatto - 4/5

9. A suspenseful book – a mystery, a thriller, a book about revenge! - The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins - 4.5/5

10. A book about Summer, with Summer in the title, or in any way related to Summer because this is a Summer challenge! - Summertime by Vanessa Lafaye  (apparently, this has also been released as Under a Dark Summer Sky depending on what part of the world you live) - 5/5 - found this book specifically for this category and loved it!

If you don't like all my book posts, carry on.  If you do, what do you think about book challenges?

  1. Over half way done, you're doing great! I can't imagine doing 5 challenges but I know you love them! Do any of your books cross over between the challenges or you made yourself choose different books for each one?

  2. This is my first book challenge and I'm loving it! It makes me seek out extra time to read--a few minutes before work if I'm ready early enough, a few minutes on my lunch break if I have time... I hope I keep reading often after the challenge. Or maybe I'll just sign up for another. :)

  3. Joining this challenge has definitely made me finally pick up some books I've had sitting around on my list for so long—so I love book challenges :) I really want to read Shotgun Lovesongs too—but it didn't fit on my LL book list. It'll have to wait til fall ;)

  4. It's great that you've enjoyed so many of the books you read for this challenge - lots of 4 and 5 stars there.

I'm doing terribly so far. Two books read!

  5. I'm doing this challenge too (still need to type up my post oops) but you are way ahead of me, I'm on my third book. This is where I leave you would be a good movie one, didn't think of that. I am a Jonathan Tropper fan.

  6. This is my first reading challenge and I'm loving it because I've been in a reading slump for far too long!

  7. I couldn't finish The Rosie Effect I was so disappointed.

I want to read Shotgun Lovesongs but my library only has the audio version and I don't have the attention span for audio books.

  10. I'm reading Shotgun Lovesongs right now. It's been on my TBR for a year and I'm glad this challenge prompted me to request it because what a great book.

I read literally 4 pages of The Rosie Effect and couldn't take it and stopped. Don is so freaking annoying it makes him impossible to read. I might try again when I finish some others.

  11. After I read This is Where I Leave You, I read about four more of his books all in a row. I'm definitely a fan!

  13. I love it when other people do book challenges because I get to hear about more books! I wouldn't participate myself though because I'm a slow reader, and I don't like that kind of pressure. Also, like to read whatever I want when I want to, not because it fits a pre-determined category.

  15. This is my first official book challenge and I'm enjoying pushing myself. I wasn't so sure about it when the topics were given but it's actually worked out nicely!

I love comments, and I enjoy our interactions. I respond via email, but if you're a "no reply blogger", I can't. Don't think I'm ignoring you!
