Sunday's Seven Snapshots - tattoo edition

Sitting, waiting, at LDF Tattoos in Newtown ~ I had a consult in June to design my pieces. After 3 attempts at appointments for the ink, Friday was finally the day!

From my tattooist's (Melanie Milne) portfolio; for all my blogger buddies who are Disney fanatics, I snapped this pic for you :)

Melanie at work ~ it's like she was made for me ~ we talked music, books, travel, fur babies, and more.

Her knick knack corner complete with a "Howdy from Texas" ceramic boot.  She's roadtripped across America and spent two weeks in Texas.

I'm laying and singing along to Fleetwood Mac that was playing on the loud speakers.

They are just finished in these photos, so red and raw.

On my forearm, Bluebonnet season in Texas is my favorite time of year there. This depicts a sunset over a field of bluebonnets (the state flower of Texas) with a waratah overlooking (the state flower of New South Wales, the state where Sydney is located.)  Both are vibrant wildflowers.  This captures my love for my two homes.

On my calf, my long awaited book tattoo ~ "so many books, so little time".

I love them.

Do you have tattoos?  Share their story with me.

  1. I don't have any tattoos and I'm to indecisive to ever get any, most likely, but that book one is so beautiful! And so fitting! I love the blue bonnets too. Gorgeous work and design!

  4. Those are gorgeous! Love them! I have one tattoo. It's on my shoulder blade and it's a quote: a room without books is like a body without a soul.

  5. Your tattoos are pretty cool - I love the meaning behind them and how they reflect your life! I don't have any . . . not sure that I ever will, but I can surely appreciate them on others!!

  6. They are beautiful. Love the significance of the Texas tat, and of course I adore the book tat! I have two tattoos but they're pretty small and they're words.

  7. No tattoos here. I have an idea for one but don't know if I'll ever get it.
I love how much thought you'd put into yours though.

  8. These are gorgeous!! I especially love the book one, of course ;-) I want a dandelion (clock kind) on my foot but I don't even know how to go about finding a place to have it done here! I already have 3 tattoos but the place I got them done (in England) has closed.

  9. YAY INK! I really like the significance of the flower tattoo, and of course books are quite fitting.

I am probably going to combine a running tattoo and a Disney tattoo to commemorate the 2 challenges I did in 2016. I'm torn on what I want the running part to say, but I've got several options and I'm just afraid "I can go the distance" (from Hercules) might be too cheesy. I also love "one more mile".

I'd also like a tree/paisley design thingy that incorporates "Be still and know" in it. I've wanted that verse as a quote for a long time and I've seen really pretty tattoos online when I search it, but I don't want to outright copy them. Ok, I kinda do, but I'm not sure feathers are really for me.

    Permanent life choices are hard!

  10. I absolutely love your tattoos and I love all the things they represent for you! That book one is amazing. I love all the elements you tied into the "home" tattoo, too! So awesome!
I have one small tattoo on the inside of my left foot. (Actually, not everyone in my family knows about it. Ha.) It's the Deathly Hallows symbol from Harry Potter :) HP was the first series I remember reading that got me SO excited about reading and writing. Plus, I grew up with the series and take pride in being the Potter generation :) Haha!

  11. i LOVE your tattoos as you know. the color is so vibrant - just like you! and so much planning and thought were put into them. they are perfection. i love how your arm one has a mix of both homes in the most perfect way. i always say with tattoos - they mean so much and people should not be afraid - you're wearing a work of art everywhere you go! :)

  16. Yup, I still love your book tattoo, it's so cool. I'll eventually post my tattoo stories - I have ten. I have to get someone to take pictures of them all for me. :)

  18. I love the book tattoo, LOVE it! I have 5 tattoos and I really only love my newest which you've seen. The others serve to remind me of chapters in my life while not really what I'd choose now I don't regret them either. :)
