The Fall Film Challenge 2017

I've participated in every one of Jenn's Fall Film Challenges, but I've never finished.  Jenn was the same with my book challenges, until the last one...she conquered it.  So, now I'm feeling the heat to complete her challenge as well.

Don't know what I'm talking about?  Check out this link.

Some of these were tough to choose.  I'd find a movie that I'd want to see, but I'd have no idea what category it would work for.  So, some of these may be a stretch... Updated: I need some help with one of the categories, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

one. starring anthony hopkins. - Thor: Ragnarok
three. about charity: an organization, an individual, a cause, an act... interpret this as you will. - The Way Way Back - the guy at the water park tries to help out an awkward teen; that's somewhat of a charitable act, correct?
four. starring robert downey, jr. - Good Night, and Good Luck - I've pretty much seen every RDJ movie I want to see, but I'll give this one a shot.
five. about envy: a character, a plot device... use your imagination - Memoirs of a Geisha
six. about faith. - Spotlight
seven. about greed. - Deepwater Horizon
eight. about hope. - Sing Street
nine. starring jeremy irons. - High-Rise
ten. about justice. - Patriots Day
eleven. starring kevin bacon. - Black Mass
twelve. about lust. - Lawless
thirteen. starring ian mckellen. - The Da Vinci Code
fourteen. set in a castle. - The King's Speech - He's a king; he spends some time in a castle, right?
fifteen. about fortitude. - The Birth of a Nation
sixteen. about pride. - Cinderella Man
seventeen. starring alan rickman. - Eye in the Sky
eighteen. released last year and reviewed on slothsandmovies.com. - Sully
nineteen. about temperance. - Amy - Watching a documentary about someone who died from alcoholism makes you want to abstain from drink, correct?
twenty. about prudence. - The Sound of Music
twenty-one. starring val kilmer. - Palo Alto
twenty-two. about wrath. - The Equalizer
twenty-three. set in an exotic locale. - The Little Mermaid
twenty-four. about gluttony. - The two movies I thought about (Se7en and What's Eating Gilbert Grape?), well, I've seen those - any suggestions?
twenty-five. set in space. - The Force Awakens

  2. I like your picks so far! I wish I had time to jump in this year but it's just impossible. For envy, any Disney movies you haven't seen? Basically every one has envy! For gluttony, have you seen both WIlly Wonka and the remake with Johnny Depp?

  3. This is an awesome challenge. Id have a tough time coming up with some of these. Agree with Steph about Disney movies being perfect for Envy - literally every one.

  6. Oh my. Lawless was super interesting but had one part that is so darn icky. Bleh. Hmm gluttony.. that's a tough one. First thought is Wall-e. Those folks in the chairs, y'all. Second thought... Marie Antoinette (though indulgence is more accurate). Perhaps a movie about an eating disorder? Not fun to watch... There's an indie movie called butter that's supposed to be really good.. but I am not sure if gluttony counts. Waitress, all about pies. No real gluttons in it though. Good luck! XO - Alexandra

  7. I'm glad The Way, Way Back counts because I've never seen it and I want to! I will definitely be borrowing from your list when I go to make mine!
I still can't believe you've never seen The Little Mermaid or The Sound of Music!
I don't know what you've seen, but Gone With the Wind would be good for envy.

  8. i could be persuaded to let gone with the wind count for gluttony... lots of overindulgence with regard to dining and drinking in that one. and scarlett's starving for money and lots of it.

  9. I didn't participate last year, but I'd love to give it a try this year! It'd be an excuse to enjoy our theater room some more!

  10. So many great choices! Really enjoyed Spotlight, Sully, and The Forces Awakens (but I like all Star Wars so I'm biased on the last one). Thor made my list too! I may have to borrow Way Way Back for charity because it was on my list for some other category from last year's challenge. I'm trying to pick only movies I can easily attain from Netflix/Amazon/library this year. For gluttony, I'm doing La Grande Bouffe (The Grand Feast) because a group of guys "resolve to eat themselves to death." Sounds pretty gluttonous to me! Good luck!

  11. Gluttony - how about Julie and Julia or whatever that film was about Amy Adams trying to cook her way through Julia Childs cookbook? That was quite good. I haven't seen the vast majority of these so I'll be interested to hear your thoughts!

  12. i hope you like The King's Speech :) i remember liking Cinderella Man when I watched it years ago. I've not seen Sully so you'll have to let me know if it's any good. The Little Mermaid is one of my all time faves (shocker, I know) so I hope you like it!

  14. I need to make my list! I found these prompts harder than the challenges before. And I really want to use previously chosen movies, but that means I have to sift through thousands of pictures on the Facebook page. Haha! Maybe Marie Antoinette for gluttony? I loved that movie. I don't know what to chose for that category either.

    1. it's not thousands, christina. it's hundreds. :] you may have overstated a little.

and i thought it would be easier not being so specific? i've already got the bonus round figured out. you think this is hard... wait 'til you get a load of it. :]

  15. What about Shallow Hal for gluttony? Or Heavyweights about the kids that go to fat camp? Both are pretty funny.

I haven't seen a lot of the ones on your list, but I loved The Little Mermaid growing up, as I did all movies that featured a red head, haha.
