Take a step back from your political affiliation, whatever side you tend to lean towards (or firmly stand with). Take a step back for being pro-Second Amendment. Take a step back from having an argument ready. I don't think this should be about arguing. There should be room for sensible, thoughtful, research-based discussions. You can have your convictions, but be willing to truly listen to other suggestions and beliefs. Some need to quit taking such a firm stance in their own beliefs that they can't openly and sensibly listen to others.
You can be anti-Obama, his administration, and/or his tenure as President. You can think he's the greatest President to ever live. I'm not telling you whether I'm pro-, anti-, or sitting on the fence for the current administration. This post isn't about that. This post is about the fact that innocent people sitting in bible study, or going to school, or going to watch a movie shouldn't be in danger of a random gunman walking in and shooting them dead.
I'm saying this statement is sadly, true. "This type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries." My heart aches.
I saw a video compilation of all the speeches Obama has had to give over his 7 years as President about mass shootings and the sheer number of times he's had to stand on that podium and discuss this tragedies is ABSURD and HORRIFYING. It should not be a common thing.
ReplyDeleteThere really are so many mass shootings in America, it is so saddening. They happen in Europe as well but nearly not as often. It is so shocking for me to see how easy it is for anybody to get a gun in America.
ReplyDeleteIt is so heartbreaking. Every time I hear about another mass shooting my heart sinks...but I'm not even surprised anymore.
ReplyDeleteI wish it was true that these things don't happen in other advanced countries. I don't want them to happen in any country. People shouldn't be killing each other with guns or knives or punching people randomly in the head. I don't have the answers either.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why people don't see the correlation between mass violence and guns. I don't understand.
ReplyDeletei really have nothing to say about this.. i mean, i have lots, but i feel like there's nothing i can say. i just don't understand how people can still be so pro gun when it is so obvious that if the gun laws changed that these would stop - or at least there would be less. we had a massive shooting and our laws changed, voila no more shootings. how many people have to die before the laws change?
