Ten Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Linking up with the ladies who love to spread positivity: Lindsay & Krysten for Ten Things That Made Me Happy This Week:
1.  The absolute most important piece of news and happiness this week is this: I have been very fortunate to have two loving, intelligent, supportive stepmothers in my life.  We lost one to cancer in 2003.  This week, my stepmom had a mastectomy and reconstruction to remove that evil bitch breast cancer who showed up (uninvited) for the second time in Helen's life.  The surgeons both gave wonderful reports, Helen was a star, all the cancer was removed, it had not spread into her lymph nodes, and she is on the (painful) road to recovery.  Thanks to any and all of you who expressed your well wishes, sent messages, prayers, and positivity to my family this week.  It was very difficult to be so far from home during a time like this, but I am thrilled with the results!
2.  This week was Veteran's Day in America and Remembrance Day in Australia...both very important days to recognize the men and women who have done more for both of my countries than I have.
3.  Sally & Dolly, the Destructive Duo, celebrated their two-year old birthday with some special treats from the butcher and a meal that Neil cooked for them that we call "doggie stew".
 4.  I'm getting prepared for Book Challenge by Erin 4.0.  It doesn't even start until 2016.  I am surprisingly organized when it comes to something that fuels my passion for books.  And, book challenges make me happy.
For more information, check out the page at the top of the blog...or here: Book Challenge by Erin
5.  Vodaphone, an Australian telecommunications company, is offering a mobile phone package that includes FREE calls to the USA!  That came in awfully handy when I was checking in with my dad and brother for updates on my stepmom.
6.  Sticker chats on viber that only my mom and I share with each other.

7.  Super duper nice customers - I don't want to jinx it, but we've had some lovely customers visit us this week.
8. Care packages...sending them makes me happy...receiving them makes me happy...the world needs more care packages.
9.  Sending the winner from my previous book challenge her prize.
10.  Glittery nail polish

What's made you happy this week?

  1. SUCH great news, so happy to hear that the results came back positive! Clicked on the link for the book challenge, but then saw it was on facebook. Bummer. This is maybe the only time in life that I'm disappointed to not be on fakebook anymore, ha!

  2. That's great news about your stepmom! Glad to hear about the positive results and wishing her a full and quick recovery from her surgery.

  3. Very glad to hear the news about your stepmom! I can only imagine how tough it must be being so far away during situations like this. Glad to know that your cellular provider offers free calling to the U.S. for I'm sure it's a God send, especially in situations like this. Enjoy your weekend!

  4. so so wonderful about your stepmother - sending lots of extra positivity her way! and yay for free calls!! so necessary when so far. and happy birthday to the destructive duo (which cracks me up) haha. happy weekend!

    xoxo cheshire kat

  5. That's such great news about your stepmother! Cancer is such a terrible disease, so I'm glad to hear that everything went well! I can't wait for your next book challenge! I'm definitely going to participate! Have a great weekend!

  6. I'm so glad to hear about your stepmom making a hopeful recovery! I don't even know the woman, but every time I hear someone has successfully taken a positive step away from cancer I get warm vibes. One day I'm hoping we won't have to deal with that pain.

  7. I love sending care packages too- I feel like the colder I get the better I am getting at it. Gift giving has never been a strong point of mine. I'm sorry to hear about the stress with your step-mother, but happy to hear things are going smoothly with her!!

I started a positivity link up a few months ago that goes live the last day of every month. You should definitely post this on there!

  8. So glad to hear the good news about your stepmom! :D :D :D
I love care packages, too! Sending them is so much fun!!

  9. I'm so glad your step-mom kicked that cancer's ass! That's AWESOME news! And your dogs are just so darn cute! Honestly, I just want to fill my house with dogs and puppies and never leave. Haha!

  10. I am so, so glad that the doctors got everything that her lymph nodes are clear. That is positive news and I wish her a well and hopefully speedy recovery (wishful thinking).

I just love puppy pics of Dolly and Sally, they look so innocent and sweet! haha. I just love their soulful eyes.

Have a great evening my love and a wonderful weekend! ;) xoxox

  11. I'm so glad about the news of your step mom ... that has to be so scary after having lost one step mom already. Goodness. I hate cancer.

  12. Care packages are fun to send & know what, you are totally right, the world needs more. Maybe you & I could put a little something together for each other. :)

  13. Care packages are da bomb!! What sweet doggies! Happy Birthday to them! God bless your step mom. I'll say a prayer for her recovery to be more comfortable.

  14. I love sticker conversations! Also care packages are the best. I remember my mom sent me lots when I was in college.

Wonderful news about your step mom! Wish her all the love and hugs as she goes down the road of recovery!

  15. Again, I'm so glad to hear the great news about your stepmom! Cancer is a bitch (and has affected more than a few people I love), so it's always nice to hear a positive story!

The book challenge makes me want to make a Facebook account for my blog ... But I also know I'll probably never use it. Ugh. Maybe I'll just make my own list for fun and participate from afar ... Or something. I don't know. I discovered my love for book challenges this year and now I want to join them all (especially if I'm blogger friends with the host!). Haha.

  16. Glad to hear the great news about your stepmom! Best wishes to her in her recovery! I can't imagine how tough it's been dealing with this from so far away.

A customers attitude can make or break your day, I'm definitely thankful for the nice ones I see day to day too! & don't get me started on nail polish! ;)

Hope you have another great week!

  17. So happy to hear the good new of your stepmother. The world needs more care packages for sure!!

  18. Mail and glitter polish are some of my favorite things... Although I didn't do glitter polish last week when we got pedis, even though that was the first place I looked...

  19. Incredible news for your step-mom, that's enough to make for an incredible week, and then you had so many other lovely things on top of it. The puppies are so adorable! I was shocked that they were 2 years old, they are so cute I thought they were younger, so cute! Hope next week is just as good!

  20. That's great news about your stepmom! Yay! Hope she will recover quickly! And happy belated birthday to the pups! Cute picture!

I love comments, and I enjoy our interactions. I respond via email, but if you're a "no reply blogger", I can't. Don't think I'm ignoring you!
