Currently...linking up vol.5

Announcing.....that June is my birthday month, and to follow the lead of some blogger buddies (Steph & Kristen come to mind as unapologetic birthday month celebrators), I'm going to try to do little things to treat myself kindly this month.

Reading..... The Cartel by Don Winslow...uhm, yea, so, I have a confession to make: I am co-hosting a challenge this month that I'm supposed to be reading ONLY books from my home bookshelf, but I started this library book in May, and I can't quit it now.  So, I'm pretty much failing at my own book challenge at the very beginning.  But, I'm reading a fantastic book, so it's worth it!  I'll get to my bookshelf in a day or two.

Watching......  We have this channel in Australia called the "Crime & Investigation Network", and I'm guilty of watching just about anything on this channel; but I've become hooked to a new series called "60 Days In" (it's probably already shown in America); but it's a fascinating, unprecedented look at being 'locked up'.

Listening.....right now, as I type this, Follow You Down by the Gin Blossoms, because I'm at work, I control our work playlist, and I'm having a '90s kind of day.

Juggling.....book challenges (again); but, I ain't complainin'.  I like it.  I'm co-hosting Read My Books that kicked off yesterday, I host Book Challenge by Erin 5.0, annnnnnd I am participating in a few others as well.

Celebrating.....
that a "Tex Mex" restaurant opened in Sydney; if you know me, you know one of the things that I miss the most the food.  I went last night, and I pretty much want to go back and have everything on the menu.  Between 3 of us, we ordered queso, guacamole, quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, and sipped on some tequila to end the meal.  I've already scheduled a girls' outing with some friends to celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks.

Appreciating...... the cool weather has caused my feline babies to be even more snuggly and cuddly than usual.

Planning.....  actually, this should say that I'm helping to plan a Sydney visit for a friend and her 11 year old son that are coming in December!  I LOVE it when I get visitors!!

  1. Oh... another book challenge! The category list looks interesting... and I apparently like taking on too much?! Where do I sign up? Does it have to be on Facebook (i.e. under my real name)?

  2. Visitors from home AND Mexican food?! All very exciting. I might need to plan a trip to Sydney just for the queso.

  3. I love the Gin Blossoms and always will.

I can't pause my hold list, and I won't sacrifice it, so I'm reading around it and the books I currently have from the library! I will not put MORE books on hold this month is where I'm at with that.

  4. Happy Birthday Month to you! You'll only turn, whatever age you're getting ready to turn, once, so live it up and celebrate the whole dang month if ya want! Have a good one, friend!

  5. Happy Birthday Month! You totally deserve to treat yourself all month long, and maybe with some more of that awesome Mexican food that just opened up near you! All the food looks so fantastic! I love all the categories for your challenge this time, and I'm putting the final touches on my list which I should put up tomorrow! I'm so excited!

  7. I didn't even commit to read my own books because then I would have had to cancel library holds and I just couldn't do it.

As soon as I choose my freebie book I'll have my book challenge list ready, it seems like the freebie should be the easiest to choose!

  8. Hurray for birthday month!! And yay for a tex-mex restaurant opening up in time to celebrate! And yes, we DO have that show! Blue and I started watching it and then we forgot about it, but I'm really intrigued to see how that snooty teacher makes out in there!

  11. I'm so excited you have a TexMex option now. Life without chips and queso/salsa is terrible!

  12. Finding a good restaurant in a "new" place is kind of priceless.

  13. Omg when I was in Australia we went out for "Mexican" at this chain restaurant there and it was soooo not good. My first meal when I got back home was Mexican (which is also chain Mexican in a tiny town, so not super authentic, but still better than the chain Mexican I had there!). How awesome that that place opened up though!

  18. Mmmm, Tex Mex, I'm having that for din-din tonight & I am so excited! Yum!

I've been in a real 90's music kind of mood too lately...& I love every single second of it. :)

  19. Yay for celebrating your birth month! I used to be all doom and gloom about my birthday, but you guys all make me want to spend the month of August treating myself and only doing what makes me happy. We'll see how that goes in a couple of months, I guess. Haha.

I had to finish a library book yesterday before starting a new one (a book I own, of course) today. I thought I could finish the other book by May 31st, but it just wasn't in the cards. Oh well. I'm reading one of my "overlap" books that fits into Megan's challenge as well, so at least I'm starting strong. :-)

Speaking of books ... I'm definitely joining your challenge! You know I don't really do Facebook (I keep getting these super annoying emails from Facebook telling me "so much" has happened since I last logged in haha), but it's still fun to make the list and all of that. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for some categories, but my list should be up soonish.

90s music is awesome! Tex-Mex food is also awesome! This (and your Instagram picture) made me so hungry ... Thankfully we're making breakfast burritos for dinner tonight, so I'll at least get some similar flavors. :-)

  20. You deserve every month to do something for yourself, but birthday months? Totally the time to go a step above & beyond :)
