Ten Things That Made Me Happy vol.8

Linking up with the ladies who love to spread positivity: Lindsay & Krysten for Ten Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1.   Getting our Australian Cats 2016 calendar with our fur babies' pictures inside.
2.  A little vanity self-care this week including getting my nails painted sparkly blue and my hair refreshed with its purpley-pink ombre.
3.  My guy calling me "gorgeous" on facebook (we usually aren't that overly mushy on social media forums).
4.  While waiting at a pedestrian crosswalk in the city, I saw a city employee using an industrial-sized vacuum-type machine that cleans the sidewalks; a man in a business suit came up to him, shook his hand, said "Happy Christmas", and tucked a $50 bill in his shirt pocket.
5.  Rum balls are offered during the holiday season at a local patisserie, and they are fan-freaking-tastic!
6.  Blogger buddies sending some extra sweet messages to me during the Thanksgiving holiday.
7.  This picture...yes, I posted it to other social media forums, so you may have already seen it...but it was one of my very bestest friend's birthday this week.  She lives in Italy, I live in Australia; our lives have taken both of us far from our Texas home.  But, this picture (from Daytona Beach, Florida taken 20 years ago-yikes!) brought so many wonderful memories back to my mind.  She's one that I know no matter the distance, no matter the time that passes, we will always share a bond, a love, and a friendship.
8.  During my sadness and being homesick while missing Thanksgiving with the family, I was reminded that I have family who loves me, misses me, are healthy, and a fantastic group of people.  I'm more fortunate than many, and I'm happy for it.
9.  Red velvet cupcake from an Aussie friend wishing me a "Happy Thanksgiving".
10.  My guy organizing a Thanksgiving celebration for me this coming weekend.  More on that next week :)  Just seeing him put effort into planning and prepping makes me happy.

What made you happy this week?

  1. I just love your hair this color. Vibrant with pizazz! :)
That's awesome your kitties are in a calendar. I'm crossing my fingers my two will be chosen for one as well.
How sweet and kind that was of the man to just walk up to a man he didn't know whatsoever and give him a 50. That's the kind of shut that brings me to tears and warms my heart.

It's so sweet and thoughtful of Neil to be doing something for you that he knows will get a smile out of you. He just wants to see you happy and that's so sweet of him to go out of his way to plan something for you. Enjoy babe, you deserve it! ;)

    xoxo

  2. So many great favorites! I love that that guy gave the street cleaner something extra, and that your guy commented on your pic! I always love when someone, especially a guy, says something super sweet about his lady online. Your hair looks great!

  3. Awww, looooove so many things on your list :) Love that your man called you "gorgeous" (I know men have a hard time appearing mushy on social media especially!), LOVE your hair (!!!!), love that picture with your friend, and love that you have friends who care for you and want to make sure you are okay by sending you pastries. How incredibly sweet (literally and figuratively, lol). XOXO and hope you have a fantastic weekend, sweetheart.

  4. That's cool about your calendar cats! They're now celebricats!

I must now try to find a rum ball, for I've never had one. Bourbon Balls are BIG here in KY, but I'm not much on bourbon, so I don't partake. I love me some rum, though. Those may just be right up my alley...

Hoping your special meal by your husband went great!

  6. I can't wait to hear all about your Australian Thanksgiving! I know that it's not the same, but it's so sweet how much of an effort your husband is making to make you feel better. And those friendships like the one that you have your friend that's currently living in Italy are so few and far between, it's so awesome to see one that's going so strong!

  7. If Meri had been featured in her rescue's calendar, I would have bought at least one. She wasn't. I purchased zero. #notsorry.
Sometimes, social media validation brings me great joy... and by sometimes, I mean always. #IBetYouThinkThisSongIsAboutYou lol

  8. I really love that hair on you. I can't do colors, I wish I could! But I still don't think it would be as pretty on me as it is on you. It just suits you.
