First Humpday of 2016

Sometimes these Humpday posts are themed, sometimes random.  I'm still having trouble forming complete thoughts since coming back to work in the New Year, so random it is.  #randomftw

When I see people use "FTW", I have to remind myself it stands for "for the win" and not "fuck the world".  #whostartedftw

I googled to see the origin (I use that term loosely) of FTW because I swore it was a Tupac tattoo or something.  Then, this post on urban dictionary tells me its use originated by white supremacists meaning Forever Truly White.  I shall never use FTW again after this very post.  #banftw

As I type this, I am standing at the counter of my shop, and an older, short, petite Asian lady is looking in the window right next to our open door.  She just let out the loudest fart.  I looked up, and she smiled at me.  #ownitsister

We took ten days off work.  Remember, my guy and I work together.  On facebook, he and a friend of mine were discussing the crappiness of that first Monday back to work.  He posted a meme that said "The Look When You Don't Want to Go to Work"...and claimed it looked like me on our first Monday back.  I found this picture of myself circa 1977, made a quick side by side comparison, and asked "whatever do you mean?"  #resemblancemuch ?  #pigtails4eva #poutitout

I am behind on reading blogs.  I started to read some today, felt overwhelmed with it all because I couldn't give the posts the attention they deserve, and just said "fuck it".  We all do it, at least most of us do.  #iaintevengonnaworryboutit

Two different authors responded to tweets of mine.  Jana has been recommending Dean Bakopoulus books, and I have checked bookstores and libraries here.  No DB in Australia.  So, I ordered some, tweeted about it, and the author "liked" it.  #authorsloveme

Then...I read a fantastic thriller (I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh - you'll hear more about it in the Show Us Your Books link-up) and tweeted about it.  This time, the author replied.  #ithinkthismeanswerefriends

I confess:  I failed to organize this post with actual confessions.  #whatevs #imout

  1. I get way too excited when authors tweet me. #booknerd4life! And that meme with you as a kid does resemble that meme! Lol

  3. These are real confessions! I totally get giddy whenever someone vaguely famous retweets or likes my comments. I got a band member to like my tweet once and I freaked out.

  4. You know Dean and I are BFFs now so I'm glad he's responding to your tweets :)

I use FTW all the time. Probably won't now.

  5. I had no idea that was an alternate meaning of "ftw." Definitely not using it anymore. That's so awesome that they tweeted back! LOVE the baby pic- the resemblance is real!

  6. I'm constantly behind at reading blogs. It's always overwhelming for me. I have a strategy for just reading my "friend" blogs and #hashtaghumpday posts and then letting anything else go if I'm overloaded that week. Still I wish I had more hours in the day to read them all!

  7. Who needs actual confessions!? I'm trying to bring my book game back but I think it's shy.

  9. haha... that lady who farted... I laughed like a 10 yr old

Sometimes I get so far behind, I just have to hit the "Mark all as read" button for blogs or I get too overwhelmed. No sweat. Problem solved :)

  14. I have the hardest time trying to figure out what shortened words mean. I seriously didn't know that SMH meant shaking my head until a few years ago, I feel so old! And that's hilarious that the lady totally owned her fart!

  15. Yep, that pouting kid could be you! Hilarious!

PS I have laughed on and off all day (I read your blog early this morning, but didn't have time to respond) about the farting window shopper. One of my kids farted today during speech and before anyone could say anything, he said, "That would be mine..." I was tempted to say "Own it brotha..." but knew he wouldn't quite get it so I just said, "Good to know." LOL!

  16. The resemblance is uncanny. I think your hubs might be on to something. Interesting learning the origins of FTW, I always think of fuck the world right away too.

  17. Hahaha I always think it's fuck the world too! Before I ever knew what it meant I just assumed that's what it meant. But now I can never ever use it! I have had that falling behind feeling a lot lately. I'll comment on a few blogs, then as it gets later and later I just mark them as read or skip commenting.

  19. I totally get all giddy when authors like my tweets. Lori Foster ending up following me and I was geeking out.

I love comments, and I enjoy our interactions. I respond via email, but if you're a "no reply blogger", I can't. Don't think I'm ignoring you!
