Sunday's (more than) Seven Snapshots vol.54

For our week off work, we ended 2015 and kicked off 2016 by packing a lot of little adventures into it. Here's a slice of those.....

Yep. I slept in a tent. Don't get me wrong, I have slept in a tent before, but it's been probably a decade since my last camping adventure.

Of course, part of my camping fun involves reading a book under gorgeous blue skies.

I was told there'd possibly be a wombat sighting. I was not disappointed. This particular campsite shares its space with these funny creatures. My kind of creatures. They sleep all day and eat all night.

Some scenic shots:

We went to Walkabout Wildlife Park where many of the animals roam freely.
This is Livingston. He came to the park after surviving being hit by a car. He shattered his patella and isn't able to live in the wild anymore. He looks pretty content anyway.

I was gobsmacked and in awe when I saw this mother kangaroo carrying her baby joey. I sat down on the ground right beside her, took some pics, then put the phone away and just talked to her.

We rang in the New Year by watching the Sydney fireworks (on tv) while in the comforts of our bed.

First day of 2016 was pretty perfect. There was a picnic in the park...

...followed by an afternoon at Jibbon beach.

Now, I'm taking note from Astro and having a day of rest, relaxation, (and reading) before I go back to work tomorrow.

Happy 2016 to all of you!!

  1. Nic Sheff/David Sheff are three of my favorite books! It looks like it was truly a wonderful week filled with lots of adventure and good memories. What a way to kick off 2016.

  2. dude. if i had the cash, i'd totally come visit you in 'stralia. that scenery, woman, is pretty damned phenomenal. and i've seen some pretty phenomenal stuff.

  3. Your camping trip looks absolutely gorgeous! You're a much braver soul than me for actually sleeping in a tent! I honestly don't know how you got much reading done with that amazing view around you! Looks like you had a wonderful New Years! Hope you're adjusting back to work ok! I know I'll be on the struggle bus when I go back!

  4. Gorgeous scenery! I love wombats. I seriously would adopt a wombat and keep it in my house because I'm a crazy person like that.

I am jealous of your reading! I kept meaning to pick up one of my challenge books and then something would happen (aka sick kiddo) and then I'd be busy again!

It looks like you had a wonderful time though!

  5. Such fun animal sightings and gorgeous scenery. Looks like a great end to 2015!

  6. Who needs to go away when you're surrounded by all that beauty. It looks like you've had a nice break. :) I just love that pic of the momma kangaroo and her baby. That's precious. <3

  7. Can we go back in time and I just go do all this fun stuff with you?? I want to camp with the wombats and converse with a mama 'roo! So fun! And those pictures are STUNNING! I need to get myself to Australia!

  8. what a great start to the new year! camping looks like it turned out ok haha. and why must our cats lay on us like that, ass to face? haha. ps i think i look like livingston on the reg. that pose. all the time. :)

    xoxo cheshire kat

  9. Every time you post pictures of scenic Australia stuff (except the things that will kill you), it reaffirms why I need to get there as soon as possible. Also, my daughter is OBSESSED with the time difference (no joke, she'll look at the time and then tell me what time it is in Sydney). I don't know why I shared that other than to amuse you.

  10. i honestly can't remember the last time i slept in a tent. haha.
i don't think i've ever actually seen a joey in a kangaroo's pouch, so thanks for sharing :) and the scenic shots are just amazing!

  11. I love camping and what a view you had! I stayed in for New Years too. Better than braving the drunken monkeys.

  12. Seeing animals always makes me so happy. And wombats are definitely my kind of animals as well. I have never seen one in real life but I would love to meet one someday. They are fabulous creatures.

  13. This place is clean and has nice ambiance, more like modern than classic. Our visit was just amazing. I believe it was a treat to be at venue Houston here. It would be a treat to attend another event here.

I love comments, and I enjoy our interactions. I respond via email, but if you're a "no reply blogger", I can't. Don't think I'm ignoring you!
