Confessions of a lame blogger

I'm not a big blogger.  I won't ever be.  I don't intend to be.  And, I'm totally fine with that.  Seriously.

But, every now and then, something pops up as I'm in this world of the blogosphere that makes me realize how lame of a blogger I truly am.  Here's a few examples:
  • I have no bucket list...or 101 in 1001, or 30 before 30, or 40 before 40 (because those have come and gone), and I sure as hell ain't about to make a 50 before 50 because we're not talking about turning 50 yet.
  • I have no cute planner.  I should use one, but I don't.
  • I have no sponsors, nor have I sponsored another blog.
  •  I use words like "nor" when I'm not sure I should.  I use a helluva lot of the ellipsis.  I make grammatical errors that I'm not sure I make, yet I'm not sure that I should correct, and I'm too lazy to figure it out.
  • I loaded Google Analytics (I think) but I've never used it.  I track nothing.
  • I infrequently use bloglovin'.  I'm on there.  I follow people.  I save posts sometimes.  But, what I use on a daily basis is blogger reading list feed.
  • There are many bloggers who feel that blogger is sub-par.  I don't know what those reasons are and have been too lazy to look into it.
In spite of all my shortcomings, I still have some of you that read and interact with me.  For that, I am most grateful.

  1. I have a post similar to this in my drafts! I'm on Blogger and don't see a reason to switch, nor do I see a need to purchase a domain name even though so many bloggers say it's necessary. There are at least three big bloggers that I read with ".blogspot.com" in their URL sooo I'd say what's the point?! I also don't have sponsors nor have I sponsored anyone. And I have no idea how to use Google Analytics sooo I just don't check it ever.

  2. Hahaha I'm with you on all of these, minus the analytics because I didn't care enough to trying to download it, and the goals lists because I do have one or two of those. I LOVE that you don't do sponsored posts, because I skip all of those. And too many ellipses? Girl, my blog title has ellipses and I'm pretty sure that's a big no no but I don't care. Perfect GIFS btw :)

  3. I switched away from Blogger for a few reasons, but I don't have any negative feelings toward it at all. It served my needs until I decided I needed something more.

  4. I totally don't have a 30 before 30 list, a bucketlist, or any other type of list going. It's not that I don't want to do anything, I just wouldn't even know where to start to think up lists like that. And you're not a lame blogger, because I love coming to your site to read everyday, and that's what it's all about, right?

  5. Oh my gosh, I'm totally with you on all of these! I just blog for fun... It's a cheaper hobby than drinking wine. That's for sure!

  7. I don't think you're lame at all because if you're lame, I'm lame because #twinsies

I have a planner. It's moderately cute with polka dots but I use it for function. I use Bloglovin because it's the easiest way for me to keep track of all the ones I read since Google Reader RIP. I have a 40 by 40 but I hate it so I'm not following it.

  9. As I was reading this list I kept nodding ... Obviously I'm a lame blogger too. (And I just used an ellipsis. I love them too, and dammit, I won't stop using them!)

I made a 35 before 35 list a couple of years ago, but I don't even look at it anymore. I've considered a 40 before 40, but I honestly can't think of 40 things I'd really like to accomplish before I turn 40. I could easily think of at least 10. But 40? That seems like a lot.

I don't own a planner (cute or otherwise). I think I should because I'd love to be more organized, but I can't commit to buying one. I want too many other things a lot more.

I've never sponsored a blog (or been sponsored). It's something I'd like to consider in the future, but I know I'd have to make some changes to my blog and I'm just not ready for that.

I don't understand Google Analytics. My head actually starts to hurt when I try to decipher the meaning behind the numbers and terms. It's terrible.

I do use Bloglovin', but that's only because it's convenient (especially if I'm catching up on blog reading on my phone). If I had to do a lot of extra work to use it, I never would.

I used the free version of Wordpress (wordpress.com) at first and actually switched to Blogger. I like it more, but I did a lot of reading on the pros and cons of each platform before switching. I actually wrote a post about it after I made the move because it was (in my mind, anyway) a huge deal to switch. (Mostly because I moved everything over myself and was pretty amazed that I could figure that out!)

This comment got a little out of control, but I just got really excited when I read this. I was like, "YES! I completely relate to so much of this!"

  10. I do some of these things (like Sponsor) and then think it's a massive waste. I actually use nor in the opening sentence of my blog post today so there ;) But yeah there are so many inane rules to blogging now-a-days that it's just like "Eh, no thanks." I know my limitations and won't ever be some massive blogging so instead of trying to keep up with the joneses, I'll just enjoy what I enjoy.

  11. I am exactly like this! I did have a 30 before 30 list but I think I only completed like five things before I was like whatever I'm done!

  12. I love this! You do what you want, simple as that. Some of the things you mentioned doesn't necessarily make a blogger "big"... and really, we should all be blogging because we want to anyway, not because of numbers or money or whatever else.

  13. haha i am so with you on a lot of these. i have my 30 before 30 and i think that will be the last one i make. i love lists, but they aren't feasible for me like that. i have a planner, but i'm not nearly as cutesy with it as others. in fact, i'm not cutesy with it at all lol. ps. don't judge but i totally had to google ellipsis, in fact, every time i see it i have to google it, you'd think i would remember by now but apparently my brain is done with the learning.

I love comments, and I enjoy our interactions. I respond via email, but if you're a "no reply blogger", I can't. Don't think I'm ignoring you!
